KALIHI, HI – A motorcycle and a city bus were involved in a deadly collision in Kalihi on Tuesday night, authorities said.

A KITV report states that the accident happened on Nimitz Highway near Kalihi Street shortly before 10 p.m.

According to a preliminary investigation, a motorcyclist ran through a red light while reportedly speeding on the highway.  The motorcycle crashed into a bus that was making a left turn.

The 29-year-old motorcycle rider was thrown from the bike to the pavement, where he was hit by another vehicle.  The victim, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead after being flown to an area hospital.
