KIHEI, HI - A collision in Kihei left a pedestrian critically injured on Monday night, reports the Maui News. The incident took place on South Kīhei Road near the intersection of Waimahaihai Street shortly after 8:30 p.m. Police said a 51-year-old man was walking across the street from the southeast corner to the northwest corner when he was hit by a 2016 GMC Canyon pickup truck going south on South Kihei Road. The man was not using a marked crosswalk at the time he was struck. The pedestrian was transported to Maui Memorial Medical Center with life-threatening injuries and was listed in critical condition. The driver of the GMC, a 17-year-old male from Kihei, was not injured. He was wearing a seat belt at the time. AIEA, HI - A moped rider was injured in a hit-and-run crash on Kamehameha Highway in the Aiea area last week. The Honolulu Police Department reported that the collision took place Oct. 28 at about 2:45 a.m. along the eastbound portion of the highway. A preliminary investigation found that a 42-year-old woman was riding a moped in the center lane when the moped was rear-ended by an unidentified motorist.  The woman was ejected onto the roadway and was transported by paramedics to an area hospital in serious condition.  She was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The motorist continued traveling eastbound on Kamehameha Highway without stopping to help or provide information, police said. According to the Honolulu Police Department, the accident happened Oct. 27 shortly after 5 p.m. in the private parking lot of a shopping mall. HILO, HI -Hawai‘i Island police have identified the victim of a fatal pedestrian collision in Hilo last week. The woman killed was 71-year-old Pamela Lovett of Pāhoa, police said in a news release. She was struck by a vehicle Oct. 22 at about 7:15 p.m. at the intersection of Kanoelehua Avenue and East Kahaopea Street. Police learned that a 2023 Kia four-door sedan was traveling Hilo bound on Kanoelehua Avenue when it struck Lovett. She was initially reported to be crossing the road and was not in a marked crosswalk. Lovett was declared dead at the scene. The Kia driver, a 39-year-old Pahoa man, was not injured in the collision. The East Hawaii Traffic Enforcement Unit responded to the scene and is continuing the investigation. At this time, police do not believe that speed and inattention were factors in the crash. HONOLULU, HI -Paramedics came to the aid of seven people who were injured in a crash near Kualoa Ranch on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser. The head-on collision took place at 49-132 Kamehameha Highway near Coral Kingdom at about 3:45 p.m. Honolulu Emergency Medical Services responded to treat the injured victims. Three people were hospitalized in serious condition, a woman in her 60s, a 49-year-old woman, and a 54-year-old man. KIHEI, HI - A car and a motorcycle were involved in a deadly collision in Kihei on Friday night, the Maui News reported. The crash took place shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Piilani Highway near Kaonoulu Street. Maui police investigators determined that the driver of a 2013 Ford Edge was making a left turn onto the highway when the vehicle was struck by a 2013 Harley-Davidson motorcycle going south on Piilani Highway. The motorcycle rider, a 37-year-old Kihei man, was ejected from the bike, and was pronounced dead after being taken to Maui Memorial Medical Center. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The Ford driver, an 18-year-old man from Kihei, was not hurt. The Ford driver was arrested for third-degree negligent injury and was released pending further investigation, police said. HONOLULU, HI -Police and first responders were called to a crash along the H-1 Freeway in Honolulu on Saturday morning. According to Hawaii News Now, a school bus collided with another vehicle on the eastbound side of the freeway at about 11:40 a.m. Three men, ages 17, 19, and 68, were taken to an area hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. A 28-year-old woman was evaluated on scene but declined further treatment. Honolulu EMS said they escorted about two dozen people from the bus to another location. The parents of the children declined further treatment. The Honolulu Fire Department was also at the scene. There was no immediate word on what led to the collision, which closed two right eastbound lanes and the shoulder of the freeway after the Kaahumanu overpass. KUNIA, HI -A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle in the Kunia area, according to the Honolulu Police Department. WAILEA, HI - Police released the identity of a man killed in a motorcycle crash in Wailea recently. According to the Maui Police Department, the victim was 44-year-old Matthew Adamson of Wailuku. A preliminary investigation indicated that Adamson was riding a 2015 Harley-Davidson motorcycle on Oct. 11 when the accident happened on Wailea Alanui Drive, 0.1 miles south of Okolani Drive. Adamson was traveling north on Wailea Alanui Drive at about 9:36 p.m. when he lost control and veered to the right, striking a curb. The rider was ejected from the motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Adamson was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
