HONOLULU, HI – The Honolulu Police Department released details of a fatal car accident that occurred on Tuesday morning.
According to a KITV report, a woman was driving west on the Moanalua Freeway just before noon when she slowed down in traffic and drifted into a cement guardrail. Her vehicle sideswiped another car and then struck the guardrail again.
The woman, age 35, was pronounced dead after being rushed to an area hospital by Honolulu EMS crews. Her name has not yet been released.
The crash prompted the closure of two lanes of the Moanalua Freeway while emergency crews and investigators were responding. Police have yet to determine the cause of the incident, but said that speed, drugs or alcohol did not appear to have been contributing factors.
