AIEA, HI – One person was killed and six others injured in a rear-end collision in the Aiea area on Tuesday afternoon.
According to a report from the Honolulu Police Department, a 56-year-old woman was driving eastbound on the H1 Freeway at about 1:40 p.m. when she crashed into the back of another vehicle.
A passenger in the second vehicle, a 27-year-old woman, was ejected onto the roadway and pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of that vehicle, a 30-year-old man, and four other passengers – two men ages 26 and 29, a 24-year-old woman, and a juvenile – were taken to an area hospital in good and serious condition. The woman driving the first vehicle was hospitalized in good condition.
At this time, police said neither speed, drugs, nor alcohol appear to be contributing factors in the wreck but the investigation is ongoing.
