HONOLULU, HI – A truck accident caused road closures in Honolulu Friday morning and sent the driver to the hospital, reports the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene on North Nimitz Highway near Sand Island Access Road at about 6:50 a.m.  An 18-wheeler tractor-trailer overturned on the highway and the driver, a 40-year-old woman, was seriously injured.

She was rushed to an area hospital by Honolulu Emergency Medical Services.

Two westbound lanes of Nimitz Highway were shut down while the truck was being removed from the roadway, causing delays during the morning commute.
