HONOLULU, HI – A woman died after being struck by two vehicles on North Nimitz Highway in the Airport area last week, police said.
According to a release from the Honolulu Police Department, the fatal accident occurred Tuesday, May 20 at about 9:10 p.m. The 29-year-old victim was walking in the roadway outside of a crosswalk when she was struck by a vehicle headed west on North Nimitz Highway. As she was in the roadway, the woman was struck again by another vehicle.
She was taken to an area hospital in critical condition and was pronounced dead the following day.
The driver of the first vehicle, a 52-year-old woman, and the driver of the second vehicle, a 57-year-old man, were not injured and stayed at the scene. Police do not believe speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the incident, the 30th traffic fatality on Oahu this year as compared to 12 at the same time in 2024.
