WAIMANALO, HI – A woman has died of injuries suffered in a wreck in the Waimanalo area last month, the Honolulu Police Department reported.
The incident took place Jan. 29 on Kalanianaole Highway near the intersection with Bell Street at about 12:20 a.m. Police said a 46-year-old woman was driving eastbound when she traveled right of the roadway and onto the unimproved shoulder, where the vehicle struck a tree.
The motorist was taken via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in serious condition.
On Feb.7, the police department’s Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, was notified by the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office that the woman had been pronounced dead.
It is not yet known whether speed, drugs, or alcohol were contributing factors in the collision.
