KEAAU, HI – A driver died after her vehicle was involved in a wreck in Keaau on Monday night, according to Hawaii News Now.
Hawaii Island police said the victim was a woman estimated to be in her 40s whose name has not yet been released.
Investigators learned she was driving a 2018 Nissan Sentra four-door sedan east on Makuu Drive in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision at about 9:34 p.m.
The driver failed to stop at a posted stop sign at the intersection with Ala Heiau Road, kept going east, and collided with a rock wall. She was pronounced dead after being transported to the Hilo Benioff Medical Center. No one else was in the vehicle.
An investigation into the crash is being conducted by the East Hawaii Traffic Enforcement Unit.
