HONOLULU, HI – A motorcycle accident in Waianae on Sunday afternoon left a young woman critically injured, KHON reports.
The incident took place along Farrington Highway at about 3 p.m. According to the Honolulu Police Department, a 20-year-old woman was riding a motorcycle westbound at about 3 p.m. when she lost control of the bike.
The motorcycle hit the raised concrete curb, causing the rider to be ejected onto the roadway. Honolulu Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene, administered life-saving measures, and rushed the woman to an area hospital where she was listed in critical condition.
She was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, authorities said. Investigators believe speed was a contributing factor in the collision, which shut down the roadway for nearly two hours.
