HONOLULU, HI – Paramedics rushed a woman to the hospital after her moped was involved in an accident in Honolulu on Sunday afternoon, according to Hawaii News Now.
The 23-year-old woman was riding in the Ala Moana area when the crash took place at about 3 p.m. Honolulu police said she crashed into the back of a vehicle that was turning left from Kapiolani Boulevard onto Kaheka Street. When the moped rider tried to make a turn into another lane, she was struck by another driver and thrown onto the roadway.
The victim was taken to an area hospital in critical condition. Authorities said she was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
An investigation into the incident has found so far that speed, drugs or alcohol did not appear to have been contributing factors.
