PEARL CITY, HI – An 82-year-old woman died after being struck by a vehicle in the Pearl City area on Thursday night, according to Hawaii News Now.

The Honolulu Police Department reported that the incident occurred in the area of Hoomalu Street and Puu Poni Street.  A driver was trying to park his car on the unimproved sidewalk adjacent to a residence at about 7:48 p.m.  The area was between the road edge and the property line.

The vehicle struck a woman who was sitting on the unimproved sidewalk.  She was transported to an area hospital, and was pronounced dead on Sunday.

The driver involved, a 52-year-old man, was not injured and stayed at the scene.

Police do not believe that speed, drugs or alcohol contributed to the incident.
