HONOLULU, HI – An accident at a Honolulu medical facility Friday claimed the life of a pedestrian, police said.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports it happened in the private parking area of Kaiser Permanente Moanalua Medical Center.

A driver exiting the area was trying to make a left turn when she struck the pedestrian, who had entered the path of the vehicle.  The victim, a 75-year-old woman, was pronounced dead after being taken to a local hospital.  Her identity was not immediately released.

The driver involved, a 51-year-old woman, was not injured and remained at the scene.

Police are investigating the collision and said there are no crosswalks in the area where it happened.  There were no indications that speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.
