HONOLULU, HI – A woman has died after she was the victim of a pedestrian collision at a Honolulu intersection last week, the Honolulu Police Department said.
The fatal crash took place June 17 in the vicinity of Kaheka Street and Makaloa Street. Police learned that the 74-year-old woman was trying to walk across Makaloa Street at about 12:10 p.m. within a marked crosswalk when she was struck by a vehicle.
The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office reported that the woman died of her injuries two days later.
The driver involved in the incident fled the scene in an unknown direction and has not yet been identified. Police are continuing their investigation into the hit-and-run and said speed does not appear to have been a contributing factor, though it was still not clear whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
