HONOLULU, HI – Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run incident that killed a pedestrian in the Kalihi area on Monday night.
The Honolulu Police Department reported that the collision happepend at the intersection of North School Street and Kokea Street at about 7 p.m.
The police department’s Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, learned that a 58-year-old woman was attempting to cross North School Street within a marked crosswalk when she was struck by an unidentified male motorist who was making a left turn from Kokea Street onto North School Street. The pedestrian was pronounced dead after being transported to an area hospital.
The driver fled the scene and was last seen traveling westbound on North School Street. He has yet to be identified. Investigators do not believe speed was a contributing factor in the crash, but it is not yet known whether drugs or alcohol were involved.

This was the 63rd traffic fatality on Oahu this year, more than twice the 31 at the same time in 2024.
