HONOLULU, HI – The Honolulu Police Department is investigating a collision in the Waianae area that left a pedestrian seriously injured, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports.
The incident happened Saturday on Mailiilii Road at about 5:40 p.m. According to investigators, a 56-year-old woman was walking within an unimproved sidewalk when she was struck by an unidentified motorist going south.
The victim was taken to an area hospital by Honolulu Emergency Medical Services, and was reported to be in serious condition. The motorist kept going south on Mailiilii Road after the crash without stopping to provide any help or information.
Police said they have not yet determined whether speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the incident. Anyone with further information was asked to contact the Honolulu Police Department’s Traffic Division.
