MAKIKI, HI – A woman was hospitalized after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in the Makiki area last week, police said.
The Honolulu Police Department reported that the pedestrian collision happened the night of Aug. 29 on Keeaumoku Street. An initial investigation determined that a 53-year-old woman in a marked crosswalk was struck by an unidentified motorist at about 8:40 p.m.
She was transported to an area hospital in serious condition. Police said the motorist continued traveling southbound on Keeaumoku Street without stopping to render aid or provide information.
Police have not yet determined whether speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the crash. Anyone with further information on the incident was asked to contact the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division.
