EWA BEACH, HI – A single-vehicle accident in Ewa Beach Sunday morning claimed the life of the driver, according to Hawaii News Now.
The incident happened in the vicinity of Iroquois Road and West Loch Drive. Investigators said a woman was reportedly seen trying to pass another driver at about 3 a.m. when she drove off the road and crashed into a tree.
Honolulu police and firefighters were called to the scene, where rescue crews extricated the 28-year-old driver but she did not survive the wreck. Her name was not immediately released. The victim was not wearing her seat belt, police said.
An investigation is continuing into the cause of the accident, and it is believed that speed was a contributing factor.
