HONOLULU, HI – Police in Honolulu are investigating a motorcycle crash that left a woman critically injured early Saturday morning, reports the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.
Police say the 19-year-old victim was riding a motorcycle eastbound at high speed on the H-1 Freeway in the Kalihi area when the incident took place at about 12:27 a.m. The motorcycle sideswiped another vehicle near the Vineyard Boulevard off-ramp, causing the motorcyclist to lose control of the bike.
She was ejected onto the roadway and was transported by paramedics to a local hospital, where she was listed in critical condition. The rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, police said.
No injuries were reported for the two people in the other vehicle, a 28-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman. Investigators have yet to determine whether drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the accident.
