MAUI, HI – The Maui Police Department released information on a fatal motorcycle accident that happened early Tuesday morning.
A report by Maui Now states that the incident happened on Kehalani Mauka Parkway just north of Kauna Lipo Drive at about 1:19 a.m.
Police investigators found that a man was heading south on a 2019 Honda Rebel 500 motorcycle when he struck a curb. The bike then hit a fire hydrant and a posted sign, and the motorcyclist was ejected from the bike onto the roadway.
The rider, identified as 31-year-old Nickolas Dotson of Wailuku, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said he was not wearing a helmet at the time, and added that the motorcycle’s headlights were not working.
Investigators are trying to determine what caused the accident.
