HONOLULU, HI – The victim of a pedestrian accident in the Punahou area last week has now been identified, according to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.
The woman killed was 82-year-old Kin Leung Lau of Honolulu, the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office said. The collision happened Feb. 24 at the intersection of Dole Street and Alexander Street shortly after 10 a.m.
Police said a 59-year-old man was driving an SUV west on Dole Street and trying to make a left turn onto Alexander Street. Lau, who was in a marked crosswalk, was struck by the vehicle. She was pinned by the SUV and was extricated by a crew from the Honolulu Fire Department, but died two days later.
The driver of the vehicle and his 31-year-old passenger were not hurt and stayed at the scene.
A police report on the incident said speed, drugs and alcohol were not believed to be contributing factors, but the investigation is continuing.
