MAKAKILO, HI – New details were released regarding a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred in Makakilo earlier this month.
Hawaii News Now reports the woman killed in the incident was identified by the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office as 77-year-old Sun Hei Lee of Kapolei.
The accident happened the morning of Sept. 5 in the area of Palahia Street and Makakilo Drive. According to police, a vehicle heading east struck Lee at about 10:15 a.m. as she was walking across the roadway outside of a marked crosswalk. She was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital.
The 71-year-old driver of the vehicle involved was not injured and stayed at the scene. Investigators determined that neither speed, drugs nor alcohol were contributing factors in the incident.
