HONOLULU, HI – Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred in Kapolei on Tuesday night, Hawaii News Now reported.
The motorcyclist who was killed in the incident was 18-year-old Gabriel Gonzales of Texas.
A preliminary investigation indicated that Gonzales was traveling eastbound on the Kalaeloa Boulevard off-ramp at a high rate of speed at about 11 p.m. when he lost control and struck a concrete barrier.
The rider, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected onto the roadway. Emergency Medical Services rushed him to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police said it appears at this time that speed was a contributing factor in the crash. It has not yet been determined whether drugs or alcohol played any role.
