HONOLULU, HI – A motor vehicle accident in Honolulu Friday afternoon knocked out power to hundreds of customers, KITV reports.

The incident happened in the 1500 block of South Beretania Street, where a Jeep crashed into a power pole shortly before 2:30 p.m.

The crash sent power lines onto the roadway, causing an outage for about 720 customers in the area.  Emergency crews responded to the scene and worked to restore power by the following morning.

There was no word on what led to the accident or whether anyone was injured.  South Beretania Street was closed at Punahou Street and drivers were advised to avoid the area.
