HONOLULU, HI – Police are investigating an accident in the Waikiki area last week that left a pedestrian critically injured.
According to the Honolulu Police Department, the collision took place Feb. 20 on Paki Avenue. Police said a 35-year-old woman ran into the roadway and was struck by a vehicle heading westbound at about 10:10 p.m. She was not in a marked crosswalk at the time.
The woman was taken to an area hospital, and was listed in critical condition.
The driver of the vehicle, a 28-year-old man, was not injured and stayed at the scene. Police do not believe speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the incident.
