HONOLULU, HI – Police are investigating an accident in the Waikiki area last week that left a pedestrian critically injured.

According to the Honolulu Police Department, the collision took place Feb. 20 on Paki Avenue.   Police said a 35-year-old woman ran into the roadway and was struck by a vehicle heading westbound at about 10:10 p.m.  She was not in a marked crosswalk at the time.

The woman was taken to an area hospital, and was listed in critical condition.

The driver of the vehicle, a 28-year-old man, was not injured and stayed at the scene.   Police do not believe speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the incident.
