HONOLULU, HI – A pedestrian was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle in the Waipahu area last week, according to a release from the Honolulu Police Department.
Police and paramedics responded to the scene on Mokuola Street on April 21 at about 3:15 p.m. A preliminary investigation indicated that a 22-year-old man was driving north on Mokuola Street when he traveled to the right of the roadway and collided with a tree. The driver kept going forward onto the sidewalk and hit a 32-year-old man who was walking northbound in the sidewalk area.
The pedestrian was transported by Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. The driver was also taken to the hospital and was in good condition.
Police do not believe speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the collision.
