EWA BEACH, HI – An accident in Ewa Beach Wednesday morning claimed the life of a teenage boy riding an electric motorcycle, reports KITV.
The victim, believed to be 14 years old, was riding in the area of Kolowaka Drive and Fort Weaver Road when the fatal collision happened at about 7:40 a.m.
Police learned that the teen was going northbound on Fort Weaver Road in a marked crosswalk against the Do Not Walk signal, and was struck by a vehicle heading east on Kolowaka Drive.
The boy was ejected onto the roadway, and was pronounced dead after being transported to an area hospital. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, police said.
Roads were closed in the area while police and emergency crews were responding.
Investigators do not believe that speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the accident.
