KAILUA, HI – First responders were on the scene of a car accident at a canal in Kailua Tuesday evening, Hawaii News Now reports.
A car was reported to have plunged into the water in the area of Hamakua Drive and Hekili Street sometime before 6:30 p.m.
The vehicle was found partially submerged into the canal when firefighters and paramedics arrived at the site. Two occupants of the car were able to escape without being injured. Emergency Medical Services said the two declined to be transported to a hospital.
The cause of the accident was not yet known.
