Vehicle crash knocks out power to over 1,200 customers in Kula

KULA, HI – Utility officials said a motor vehicle accident in Kula caused a power outage affecting hundreds of customers.

According to Hawaii News Now, Hawaii Electric crews were dispatched to make repairs after the incident occurred on Thursday afternoon.

The company issued an update at 2:15 p.m. reporting that 1,259 customers remained without power.  Crews worked for hours to restore power to the area, with full restoration expected by 9 p.m.

Hawaii Electric advised customers that heavy call volume may have been preventing some customers from being able to get through.
