HONOLULU, HI – A man suspected in a hit-and-run incident in Honolulu on Monday morning is under arrest, reports the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.
The crash involved two vehicles and occurred on Ala Moana Boulevard near Atkinson Drive at about 10:48 a.m. According to police, a driver going westbound crashed into the back of another car that had stopped in traffic.
The driver of the first car, a 38-year-old man, fled the scene without stopping to help, investigators said. He was found shortly afterward and arrested for suspicion of a collision involving substantial bodily injury.
A passenger in his car, a juvenile, was seriously injured in the wreck and taken to an area hospital. There were three other passengers in the vehicle, another juvenile and two men, ages 28 and 39.
There were four people in the car that was rear-ended – the driver, a 42-year-old man, a woman, and two juveniles.
Speed, drugs and alcohol were not believed to have been contributing factors in the incident.
