HONOLULU, HI – A semi-truck accident left behind damage along the Kailua-bound lanes of Kailua Road on Tuesday afternoon, KITV reported.
Officials said the driver of the semi was attempting to turn right onto Uluoa Street at about noon when the vehicle clipped some dangling utility wires. The impact caused a total of seven utility poles to be knocked down and one of the poles crashed onto a house, causing damage to the roof and gutter. No one was in the home, and no injuries were reported.
Kailua Road was shut down between Ulukahiki Street and Uluoa Street while crews were making repairs in the area.
The truck belongs to Island Distributing, which released a statement to Hawaii News Now that said, ““We are aware of an incident that took place earlier today in Oahu involving one of our trucks. We are thankful no one was injured and are working closely with local authorities to investigate the matter. We will take appropriate action based on our findings.”
