Rollover crash injures driver, shuts down Hawaii Island highway

HONOLULU, HI – A rollover accident shut down a portion of the Daniel K. Inouye Highway on Hawaii Island on Tuesday morning, Hawaii News Now reported.

The crash occurred at about 11:30 a.m. near the 29-mile marker on Saddle Road.   Police said the driver was injured, but there was no further word on the person’s condition.

A portion of the highway was closed in both directions while emergency crews responded to the wreck.  Motorists were advised to avoid the area.

The Hawaiʻi Police Department issued an update at about 4 p.m. stating that the road had been reopened.  No details were released on the circumstances surrounding the incident.
