KAILUA-KONA, HI – A truck accident knocked out power and disrupted traffic along a roadway in Kailua-Kona on Friday afternoon, Hawaii News Now reported.
The incident happened on Alii Drive at about 2:40 p.m. A witness told Hawaii Island police that a driver was distracted by a loose dog in the vehicle, lost control and crashed into a power pole. The crash closed Alii Drive between Lunapule Road and Royal Poinciana Drive.
The Hawaiian Electric Company said the collision with the pole left about 1,300 customers without power.
