KAHULUI, HI – The Maui Police Department is seeking the public’s help in finding the driver and vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run last month.

Police issued a news release with an update on the case of 57-year-old Jesus Mettao.  Investigators said he was lying in the roadway on Lono Avenue near Ka’ahumanu Avenue May 27 at about 3:10 a.m. when he was run over by a car.  Mettao was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver involved left the scene without stopping to help.

The police department posted photos of the vehicle they are looking for, a red sedan. Anyone with information was asked to contact the Maui Police Department Traffic Division/Vehicular Homicide Unit or Maui Crime Stoppers.
