PEARL CITY, HI – A pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in the Pearl City area early Friday morning, the Hawaii Police Department said.
The incident happened on Kamehameha Highway at about 12:30 a.m. Police said that a 51-year-old man was walking in the westbound lanes of the roadway when he was struck by an unidentified motorist. The driver kept going west on Kamehameha Highway after the collision without stopping to help or provide information.
EMS crews transported the pedestrian to an area hospital, where he was listed in serious condition.
Anyone with information on the crash was asked to contact the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division.
Investigators have yet to determine whether speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the incident.
