PEARL CITY, HI – A pedestrian was struck by a hit-and-run driver in the Pearl City area last week, according to the Honolulu Police Department.

A preliminary investigation found that an unidentified motorist was driving eastbound on Kamehameha Highway at about 10:55 p.m. and made a left turn onto Puu Momi Street.  The vehicle struck a 41-year-old man who was crossing Kamehameha Highway northbound in a marked crosswalk.  The pedestrian was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital, where he was in serious condition.

The motorist kept going northbound on Puu Momi Street without stopping to render aid or provide information.

It was not clear whether speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the collision.  Anyone with further information was asked to contact the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division.
