WAIANAE, HI – A pedestrian was seriously injured in a hit-and-run collision in the Waianae area late Sunday night, the Honolulu Police Department reported.
Investigators determined that an unidentified driver was heading west on Farrington Highway at about 11:15 p.m. and made a right turn into the Waianae Mall. The vehicle struck a 37-year-old man who was crossing the mall entrance driveway in a marked crosswalk.
The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital by Emergency Medical Services, and was listed in serious condition. The driver involved kept going into the mall parking lot without stopping to help or provide information.
Police said speed does not appear to have been a contributing factor in the incident, but it was not yet known whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
Anyone with further information was asked to contact the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division.
