WAIANAE, HI – The Honolulu Police Department said a pedestrian was killed in a collision in the Waianae area on Tuesday night, Feb. 4.
According to a news release, the incident happened on westbound Farrington Highway at about 8:40 p.m.
Investigators in the police department’s traffic division learned that a driver struck a 52-year-old man who had fallen onto the roadway in the path of her vehicle. The man was not in a marked crosswalk at the time of the accident. He died after being taken to an area hospital.
The driver, a 52-year-old woman, was not injured and stayed at the scene.
Police do not believe that speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the incident.
