HONOLULU, HI – Honolulu police said the victim of a hit-and-run crash on Sunday morning has died of her injuries, and a suspect has been arrested in the case.
KITV reported the update to the crash that occurred in the area of Farrington Highway and Pahu Stret in Waipahu.
Investigators learned that a driver was heading east on Farrington Highway at about 7:39 a.m. when he turned right on Pahu Street and hit a 76-year-old woman who was crossing the street.
The victim was transported to an area hospital and later pronounced dead.
Police said the driver stopped at first but then fled the scene without stopping to help, going south on Pahu Street.
The suspected driver, identified as 55-year-old Sione Manupule, was found later and has been arrested for collision involving death or serious bodily injury.
At this point, it is not believed that speed, drugs, and alcohol contributed to the incident.
