HONOLULU, HI – A pedestrian was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle on Farrington Highway Tuesday afternoon, according to a report by KITV.
The Honolulu Police Department said the pedestrian was running southbound across the highway near Makakilo Drive when he was hit at about 4:11 p.m. The victim, a 33-year-old man, was listed in critical condition after being transported to an area trauma center.
The driver of the vehicle, a 40-year-old man, and two boys who were passengers were not injured. Police said the driver stayed at the scene of the crash. Investigators do not believe speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.
The pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk at the time of the collision, police said.
