HONOLULU, HI – A pedestrian accident in the Liliha area Tuesday night left a man hospitalized, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported.
The 70-year-old victim was struck by a vehicle on the Liliha Street on-ramp to the eastbound H-1 Freeway. According to a preliminary investigation by the Honolulu Police Department, the pedestrian was crossing against the “Do Not Walk” signal at about 9:10 p.m. when the crash occurred.
Police said a man driving south on Liliha Street had a green left-turn arrow, turned onto the on-ramp, and hit the pedestrian, who was listed in critical condition after being taken to an area hospital.
The driver of the vehicle, a 61-year-old man, was not injured and stayed at the scene.
Investigators said speed, drugs and alcohol do not appear to have been contributing factors in the incident.
