HONOLULU, HI – Police are investigating a collision in the Honolulu area that claimed the life of an elderly pedestrian last week.
According to the Honolulu Police Department, the victim was struck by a vehicle Dec. 21 at about 7 p.m. near the intersection of Rycroft Street and Ahana Street.
It was reported that the 81-year-old man was walking across Rycroft Street within a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a westbound vehicle driven by a 57-year-old man.
The pedestrian was initially transported by Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital and was listed in good condition, but on Dec. 24 he died from his injuries. The driver involved was not injured.
At this time, investigators do not believe that speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the accident.
