HONOLULU, HI – A man has died of injuries suffered in a pedestrian accident in the Kalihi area last week, police said.
According to an update released by the Honolulu Police Department, the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office reported on Jan. 12 that the 75-year-old victim had been pronounced dead.
The collision took place Jan. 9 on North King Street near Gulick Avenue at about 6:45 a.m. A preliminary investigation determined that a motorist was traveling south on Gulick Avenue when she made a left turn onto North King Street and struck the pedestrian as he was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk.
The motorist, a 56-year-old woman, was not injured and stayed at the scene. It is not yet known whether drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the incident, but investigators do not believe that speed was a factor.
