KAPOLEI, HI – Police and paramedics were called to the scene of a pedestrian accident in Kapolei on Tuesday night.
According to Hawaii News Now, the victim was a 66-year-old man. Investigators said he was trying to walk across Kapolei Parkway at the intersection with Kunehi Street at about 9 p.m. when he was hit by a vehicle. The pedestrian was walking outside of a marked crosswalk at the time.
The man died after being transported by EMS to an area hospital. The driver was not hurt and stayed at the scene.
The Honolulu Police Department said speed may have been a contributing factor in the accident, but drugs and alcohol apparently were not.
