Pedestrian, 62, fatally struck by vehicle in Keaau

KEAAU, HI – The Hawaii Police Department is investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred last week in Keaau, KHON reports.

Investigators said the victim was a 62-year-old woman who was on Highway 130 Thursday evening just before 7 p.m.  She was struck by a 2017 Honda HRV driven by a 41-year-old woman.

The pedestrian died after being transported to an area medical center.  The driver was not injured.

Police are conducting a negligent homicide investigation to find out what led to the accident.  Officers noted that there are no crosswalks in the area where it happened.

Anyone with further information was asked to contact Hawaii police or Crime Stoppers.
