MAUI, HI – Maui police responded to the scene of a fatal pedestrian accident in West Maui on Monday night, according to Hawaii News Now.
The incident happened on Honoapiilani Highway in Lahaina near milepost 13.
Police officers arriving at about 7:45 p.m. found that a pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle just north of Ukumehame Beach Park. An investigation indicated that the victim, a 42-year-old woman, was struck by a Toyota Tacoma as she was walking across the highway. Police said she was not in a marked crosswalk at the time of the incident.
Both lanes of Honoapiilani Highway were shut down while police and paramedics were working the scene.
