News: Woman injured in collision between 2 mopeds north of Wahiawa

HONOLULU, HI – A woman was injured in a collision involving two mopeds north of Wahiawa Thursday , police said.

According to KHON, the vehicles were traveling northbound on Kamehameha Highway when the incident took place at about 1:40 p.m.

Investigators said a 19-year-old man lost control of his moped and was ejected onto a grass shoulder of the roadway.  A 20-year-old woman who was riding behind him collided with the first moped and she also was thrown onto the road.  The woman was critically injured in the crash and taken to an area hospital.  The man suffered minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene.

Honolulu Emergency Medical Services said neither moped rider was wearing a helmet at the time.
