News: Pedestrian struck, killed by vehicle in Kapaa hit-and-run incident

KAUAI, HI – The Kauai Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a pedestrian Sunday night, according to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.

Police said the pedestrian was crossing Kukui Street shortly before 9:45 p.m. when he was struck by a lifted dark-colored Toyota Tacoma that was making a left turn from Kuhio Highway.

The victim, a 64-year-old Kapaa man, was pronounced dead after being taken to Wilcox Memorial Center.  The pickup truck driver was reported to have fled the scene after the accident.

Anyone with further information regarding the incident was asked to contact Kauai Police or Crime Stoppers Kauai.
