WAHIAWA, HI – A pedestrian was hospitalized after being struck by an alleged drunk driver in Wahiawa early Tuesday morning, reports the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.
The victim, a 60-year-old man, was walking south in the shoulder lane of the H-2 freeway when the incident took place at about 12:30 a.m. Honolulu police said a man driving north in the freeway’s shoulder lane struck the pedestrian, who was listed in critical condition.
The 31-year-old driver was not injured and stayed at the crash scene. Investigators said the driver was intoxicated at the time of the incident, and he was subsequently arrested on suspicion of operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant.
