PUNALUU, HI – Authorities are investigating a deadly motorcycle accident that occurred in Punaluu late Sunday night.
According to Hawaii News Now, a man was riding on Kamehameha Highway near Punaluu Beach Park at about 11:20 p.m. when he lost control of his motorcycle. Police said the rider ejected onto the roadway and collided with a rock wall. The victim, a man in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet at the time.
Investigators were trying to determine whether drugs or alcohol contributed to the accident, which shut down Kamehameha Highway in both directions.
