News: Motorcycle rider dies following crash near off-ramp in Kalihi

HONOLULU, HI – An accident in Kalihi early Sunday morning claimed the life of a motorcycle rider, police said.

Hawaii News Now reports emergency crews were at the scene near the Palama Street off-ramp after the incident occurred at about 12:45 a.m.  Honolulu police said the motorcyclist was going west at a high rate of speed when he struck a guardrail near the Palama Street off-ramp.

The victim, a 59-year-old man, died at the scene.  No other vehicles were involved.  Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the accident.
